2300 Algerian children Adopted by France Based Nationals

Algerian nationals in France have adopted about 2300 Algerian children, 8 years after the Algerian-French agreement on immigration and family based immigration was amended.
Unlike France, the Algerian law bans the adopter to give his/her family name to the adoptee. Yet, in accordance with the aforementioned convention, French authorities accept allocating visa to the adoptee in the frame of family based immigration, although he/she has not the same family name.
The adoption of 2300 children is an important figure, yet thousands of other adoption demands are still pending, for years, at the level of offices in charge of immigration in either, Algeria or France, said a member at the Adoptee Rights Commission, an NGO based in France. The Later is composed of doctors, jurists and civil rights activists.
